Topic:
Internet Protocols;;Windows Networking
All of a sudden we can't access a website (www.ilsco.com) from inside the network. The website works because it can be accessed from anywhere outside the network. Cannot figure out why.
-it's not our website so i don't have any control over it
- our sonicwall shows no problems in the logs.
- it was working friday, now today doesn't work and nothing's changed in the network.
- rebooted sonicwall, flushed dns, restarted dns server.
any ideas on where to look for the problem?

thanks for the input, not sure why the page started working again on its own.

well after 12 hours of the page not working, all of a sudden it started working again. I'm wondering if our ip address is getting black listed by their servers for some reason.

Hi,
1) What type of switch(es) are involved? Do they have any logging capability? If so, can you see whether the machine(s) are successfully sending their request out through the switch?
Could you remove the switch(es) from the equation entirely and temporarily connect a machine directly to the SonicWall device and see if that works?
2) What logs can you get from the SonicWall device? Can you see the requests transitioning from the LAN to WAN through the device? If so, are responses coming back from the website? Are those responses then getting sent back to the LAN?
Is the SonicWall device also your modem? You said above that you have:
If you have another device (modem or something) outside of the SonicWall and it is also a router, then you could try removing the SonicWall device from the setup, and connect a machine directly to that perimeter device and see if it works. If you don't have a router in there that is doing NAT (say) then connecting a Windows machine directly to the internet is not a good idea, so be careful and sure you know what you are doing if you are trying that!

everything works but that site, all internal communication is fine, all other websites are accessed just fine. We have to use ilsco.com daily for orders and it's the only site not working.
My guess is that it must be either your switch, the sonicwall device, or something outside your network.everything works but that site, all internal communication is fine, all other websites are accessed just fine. We have to use ilsco.com daily for orders and it's the only site not working.

Does that mean there is nothing outside the SonicWall device? How about internal network is okay or not so that will help to verify the switch is okay or not

it's not an issue with just one system, all servers, all workstations have the same problem. it is a windows environment.
Expert: duncanb7 replied at 2024-07-21 16:51:01
If window, how about do window recovery process to recover it to the date on that is no issue before

no vlans in the network. setup is simple. internet----sonicwall-----swtich----server/workstation
website it's been working fine for months, up until friday. Nothing that we know changed over the weekend and now today we can't access the site.
turned off just about everything in the sonicwall as far as IPS, gateway AV, content filter, etc.

If external site is NOT accessible, probably, it is VLAN issue, your internal network is not routed to Layer-3 Vlan with assigned IP.
Take a loook this Vlan tutorial to see any trigger hint

I am not quite sure your network setup, please write it more in detail

very similar to my issue on that link, just tried the solution but did not solve the issue though. website still cannot be reached inside the network, either google chrome or IE, from servers or workstations.

in this article at this site, it mentioned the author has similar issue as you and fixed it after a month by himself with changing log setting.
