jQuery;;JavaScript
I'm working on a website that uses 2 jquery plugins. The menu and the background slider.
When I use both at the same time only the menu works as intended.
If I remove the menu scripts the backslider works normally.

insoftservice - Your comment on 2013-11-28 at 11:47:54ID: 39683958

The comment from insoftservice was also a copy from another site. I was in the process of seleting it when you accepted it as part of the solution.

Mark your comment was very helpful. Thank you for the time you put into explaining all this in detail.
I honestly though @GaryC123 nailed it in the simplest way due to going through the source code.
I would like to award points to @insoftservice for the time and effort put in to this as well. But fair is fair and Gary posted the simplest / most effective solution first.
Thank you all for your help and time.
Regards

Hi zahimezher,
Awarding points is the right of the Asker as you see fit and fair and most representative of the input into solving your problem.
Given your comments above, it would seem that Gary solved the problem.
So, would award him the "Accepted" solution. But...
If you also see value in the added details that insoftservice posted, and it helped you solve or better understand your problem, then you can also award "Assisted" by accepting multiple solutions (starting at the "accepted" post, assign some points, then move to "assisted" and assign the balance).
The balance of points is up to you, but typically reflects the amount of influence in solving your problem, or helping to understand the problem.
And of course, if there is the answer that nailed it, despite any other activity, then you can simply Accept that one even though there are similar posts added later.
Looking at line 45 of your source code, I can see the answer that you have actually used, and Gary obviously took the time to actually look at your source code. So, that's why it was simple and did the trick.
It can be tough, but as Experts it is often a case of "swings and roundabouts" so whatever you decide to do will generally be OK with the experts so long as you are honest and fair and don't forget to say "thanks" where ever you feel it is warranted, and that can sometimes be worth as much as points, if not more.
So, while we cannot really help you decide which ones to accept, we understand how it can sometimes be difficult, and if needed, we can always use the Request Attention afterwards and get some moderator attention.
Kind Regards,
Mark Wills

Hello,
@duncanb7 Thank you but this is more of a do it your self kinda help and not a solution.
@GaryC123 Your first comment was simple and did the trick, everything is working now.
@insoftservice thats exactly what @GaryC123 posted before you did and its basically the same solution but with more details...
@mlmcc Should I reward @GaryC123 all the point or divide them equally between GaryC123 and @insoftservice
It's always mega confusing when it comes to rewarding point and similar solutions are posted.
This happened before and I end up with a re-opened question to redistribute points.
Awaiting your advice.

You repeated what I had already said but your whole comment is just a copy/paste from two other websites - that's called plagiarism.
And now again you have just copy/pasted another persons work passing it off as your own.
All the while not providing a real answer to the problem

Agreed with your points for removing the links, but little confuse about other statement that i had repeated other experts suggestion as there are only few methods to resolve this issue which i had written so it might have others comments too.
So do author is viewable my comments or should i repost the same comment removing the links

insoftservice
I editted your comment to remove the link to a competing Q&A site. It has always been against the EE rules and MA to link to competing sites. Recently the decision was made to enforce the issue and delete links.
Another issue is your comment starts off by repeating another experts suggestion. You do expand on it with examples and then you add another method of solving the issue.

Assisted Solution
Expert: insoftservice replied at 2024-11-28 08:14:57
50 points EXCELLENT
$(document).ready(function(){$("div").hide(); // picked up by jQuery and MooTools});
Solution
jQuery(document).ready(function($){$("div").hide(); // picked up by jQuery only});
Or
jQuery(document).ready(function(){jQuery("div").hide(); // picked up by jQuery only});
Or try this one
var $j = jQuery.noConflict(); // Use jQuery via $j(...)
$j(document).ready(function(){
$j("div").hide();
});
jQuery.noConflict()(function(){ // code using jQuery
});
(function($) { /* some code that uses $ */ })(jQuery)
Another way to resolve
http://www.simplifyyourweb.com/index.php/developers-corner/90-solving-jquery-jquery-and-jquery-mootools-conflict-issues-with-the-jquery-easy-plugin
// Disable the $ global alias completely
jQuery.noConflict();
// For jQuery scripts
(function($){
// set a local $ variable only available in this block as an alias to jQuery
... here is your jQuery specific code ...
})(jQuery);
// For Mootols scripts
(function($){
// set a local $ variable only available in this block as an alias
// to Mootools document.id
... here is your Mootools specific code ...
})(document.id);

450 points EXCELLENT
You have a conflict between MooTools and jQuery - both are trying to use $ - so to use the jQuery library you just use jQuery instead of $
