Take a snapshot of the vm then run the sfc /scannow command

Now I also ready to uninstall Firefox too since the older version of FF is
faster than new version of FF, really interesting. So time to also give up Firefox

Seriously though, have you tried an SFC /scannow?

Alternative, give up using IE which less people to use it about or less than 15% around the world
now Google chrome is more than 50%  and more than Firefox

Actually, IE has a lot issue and I already gave it  up
but one thing did good job wih VBA progamming, if you don't use VBA prog, just switch to
chrome for less debugging issue time

Fast way, do

1-window system recovery to the point you got your previous version of IE running normally,

2-clean up all cache, cookie, or anthything such as Temp direcoty  on the previous IE version

and

3- uninstall IE

and

 4- re-install it
