For our public internet connection at our office we have Comcast Business Class coax cable internet service. We have an SMC 8014WG gateway/modem. As many know, the default user name and password for this device is "cusadmin" and "highspeed". I decided I want to secure this a bit more, so I logged in, went to the administration area, and changed the password. I entered the old password "cusadmin" in the old password box, and then typed my new password in the new password and confirmation boxes. I clicked OK, and got a pop-up saying that the password was changed successfully.
It kicks me back to the SMC login screen, so I enter "cusadmin" and the new password. It then brings me to a blank page and pops-up an additional prompt for user name and password (see attached screenshot). I tried entering "cusadmin" and my new password, but it doesn't work. I've tried various combinations of things like admin, administrator, etc. Nothing lets me in.
Does anyone here have a clue as to what it's looking for here, or why this is happening?
My last resort is doing a hard reset on the gateway and then reconfiguring my settings, but I'd like to avoid doing that first if possible.
Thanks.
